My name is Lauren Swanson and I am a Prevention Educator/Student Assistance Program Counselor at The Prevention Council. I previously lived in Maryland and moved to the Buffalo area in 2011. I graduated from the University at Buffalo with my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology in 2013. Since graduation, I have been working in the human services field. I have worked with adults with mental health and substance use disorders as well as students, families, and community members. I started working at The Prevention Council in October of 2016. As a Prevention Educator/Student Assistance Program Counselor, I get to work with students in Pre-K through 12th grade in either a group or one on one setting.
My favorite aspect of working in the community is seeing the positive changes that the students have made during our time together.
You are braver than you believe, stronger than you seem, and smarter than you think.”
