My name is Lauren Swanson and I am a Prevention Educator/Student Assistance Program Counselor at The Prevention Council. I previously lived in Maryland and moved to the Buffalo area in 2011. I graduated from the University at Buffalo with my Bachelor’s degree in Psychology in 2013. Since graduation, I have been working in the human services field. I have worked with adults with mental health and substance use disorders as well as students, families, and community members. I started working at The Prevention Council in October of 2016. As a Prevention Educator/Student Assistance Program Counselor, I get to work with students in Pre-K through 12th grade in either a group or one on one setting.

My favorite aspect of working in the community is seeing the positive changes that the students have made during our time together. I have enjoyed being able to work with some students for over three years now.
