My name is Karen Owens and my role at The Prevention Council began in 2000 as a facilitator. I have worked in child care, and as a facilitator in both 6–10 and 10–14 parent and youth classrooms presenting the strengthening families curriculum. My background has been working with youth and families for over 30 years. I enjoy assisting people in meeting their needs.

I have several great memories of working in the community with people in group and individual settings. I would have to say that some of memories are when they “get it” and seeing the smiles on their faces due to kind words and gestures. I like working in the community as this is a great way to network and help people.

An interesting fact about me is that I am more “fire” than people think. My favorite color is purple. I like seafood. My favorite place to be is with my family and friends. I enjoy traveling and do so as often as possible.
