My name is Jan Burns and I having been working full time at The Prevention Council since 2000. My journey at The Prevention Council has been one of learning, creativity, and reward. Moving through the ranks; from providing childcare in our Strengthening Families Program to facilitating parent, family, and teen sessions to presently being the Director of the Focus on Consequences for Adolescents Program; has given me much gratitude for the hundreds of people I’ve been able to serve over the years. They have taught me a great deal about myself and the fullness of life!
I absolutely love being part of someone’s forward progress—a completed art project, a personal discovery about a talent they learned or achieved, or a difficult challenge they struggled through. The smiles of teens, children, and their parents warm my heart!
One fun fact about myself is that I’m really good at shooting foul shots!
“Go placidly amid the noise and the haste and remember what peace there may be in silence.”
